Formal Complaint: Misleading Post-Purchase Support and Breach of Statutory Rights

Dear Lidl Ireland Management,

I am lodging a formal complaint regarding the structural failure of your post-purchase warranty support for electrical goods sold in Ireland. This is not a complaint about a faulty machine, but about the dysfunctional and illegal bureaucracy Irish consumers are forced to face.

On August 19th, 2026, I purchased a Singer M3205 machine from Lidl Blakestown. When it failed, the official support team (Singer UK) refused to collect the item from Ireland, stated they have no permit to operate here, forced me through broken geographical links (IE/UK errors), and eventually told me to self-manage my warranty by directly contacting a local third-party repair agent (Mr. Mooney).

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2022, Lidl Ireland is the sole legal custodian of the contract. Forcing a consumer to act as an intermediary, troubleshoot via broken foreign web-links, and negotiate repairs with independent contractors is a major breach of the "service without significant inconvenience" statutory clause.

If consumers knew that buying a middle-aisle product from Lidl meant facing a dysfunctional, border-blocked UK helpdesk in case of a fault, nobody would purchase your electrical items. This is a misleading commercial practice.

I demand that Lidl Ireland reviews its contract with this supplier to ensure Irish citizens are provided with a seamless, legal, and stress-free local collection system, rather than being forced into endless corporate email loops.

Regards,

Alina Stasiuc
