The most studious kitten from the grandparents' place,
curled up in the rocking chair, is wearing glasses today.
—Come on, now you make me laugh, I really must see
such a wonder — who can this scholar be?
—It’s Kitt, as you see, Alina, no ordinary cat,
and a newspaper is the reason for that;
so this little tiger, with glasses on his nose,
will read to the very last word, I suppose,
and read, and keep reading, then go on to tell
all the other dwellers in the grandparents’ dell
how well-informed he is, how much he has learned,
studying in the rocking chair, the rustling paper he’s turned.
